聖雄甘地曾言：「一個國家的偉大與道德進步，皆可從其對待動物的方式中窺見。」然而令人痛心的是，現今政府並未設立任何官方公告欄或線上平台，供市民傳遞搜救流落犬隻的資訊。當下的官方協助，始終停留在被動的姿態。正如時任食物及衞生局局長陳肇始教授於2019年一份關於動物福利的書面回覆中所述：
「……若市民的寵物走失，他／她可透過不同途徑向漁農自然護理署（漁護署）報告，包括致電政府熱線 1823、向漁護署發送電郵……漁護署人員在收到報告後，會檢查動物管理中心內是否有動物與該寵物的資料／特徵相符，並據此通知寵物主人。」
本創作旨在檢視並描摹香港走失犬隻的困境。作為一場建構「社會雕塑（Social Sculpture）」的實踐，藝術家試圖為當前困局尋求轉機——展出的電郵對話書信印本，記錄了藝術家如何積極游說官方，敦促其於公共場域裝設「尋狗告示板」，以此介入並重塑我們的社會公共空間。
Mahatma Gandhi once said that “the greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” It is shocking to know that there is no government official noticeboard or online platform for citizens to post information about their missing dogs. Currently, government assistance is passive. According to the Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, in a written report from 2019 regarding animal welfare:
“… one's pet has gone astray, he/she may report the loss to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) through different channels, including calling the Government hotline 1823, emailing to the AFCD for making a report of the loss... Upon receipt of such a report, AFCD's staff will check if there is any animal in the AMCs that matches with the information/description of the animal, and will inform the pet owner accordingly.”
This work aims to review, illustrate missing dog issues in Hong Kong. As an attempt of creating a social sculpture, the artist suggests ways in improving the current situation in which the work presents the prints of email conversation prompting the government to consider installing missing dog’s noticeboards in the public places.
